DIAMOND LIGHT
How can a tear
sparkle like a diamond in the absence of light?
The wind chill
was all she had left to preserve her honor,
her beauty
enveloped in a
cryogenic tomb
left her
suspended under the moon
A lone red rose
in full bloom
sending her love
out to him,
encapsulated in
an ethereal aroma
which permeates
the midnight winter air.
She used to be
able to tell time with precision
through the
constant of sidereal visions
But she couldn’t
remember when last
his beautiful face she did envision
his beautiful face she did envision
Long days turned
into lonely nights
as their
communications had dwindled
made possible
only
with transmition of
ultrasonic telemetry
she was scared
that time was running out…
for it is time
that gives our existence legitimacy
She gave up hope
in ever seeing his face.
...the longing
was just too great
her thoughts,
continually lost in space
her days were
numbered.
The Misty rose shed
her very last tear that night…
As the morning
rays emerge over the New Horizon
she looks behind
one last time
...a final glimpse
into the dark
On the stroke of
the 11th hour
that beautiful
lonely flower
sees the sign
she had been searching for…
there, inscribed on his frigid
Plutonian scarp
A heart
illuminated by
that first ray
of light
sent all those years ago
it had finally
reached him
She smiles,
knowing
there is a
conclusion to this undying love story
