FIRE HORSE 66

FIRE HORSE
66

Stygian veil looming in the distance
she is on a walkabout dance
Venturing boldly into the impending storm
the darkness provides some much needed anonymity
for this rare and mysterious creature
Ostracized as a harbinger of infelicity
she walks the earth with defiant buoyancy
Not one to be vanquished, she flout her feticidal fate
her lifelong battle is to fight for her very freedom

Nine steely truss facilitate her journey
transporting her from one life toward a new moirai
From her vantage she sees Horse Rock Point below
gazing, magnetized, as the undertow of the tide swirls and flows
Like trees in the distance, her dreaded mane in the strong winds blow
as a quiet song escapes vishuddha, traveling into the tomorrow
teetering… her restless spirit seeking to elope
longing to become one, her wings unfold
she crosses over as in a meditative dream

She will not be broken

some notes:
I wrote this piece while crossing Tom Ugly's Bridge in Sydney
on the 18th September 2015
on my phone, in the dark as the storm was coming in.
While recomposing my words, I looked up some facts about the bridge
only to find that the point that it spans from on the south side is
called Horse Rock Point.
About the 1966 fire Horse... there literally are not very many in Asia
due to the superstition regarding this particular sign...and girls were even
more dangerous according to the Chinese.
There was a steep decline in births in 1966
and many babies, especially females were murdered at birth.
